Sister Aid Gives a Mother a Business and a Daughter an Education!

In 2010, YGB developed "Sister Aid" to directly provide impoverished mothers with micro-loans and young daughters and orphans with education funds. Since then "Sister Aid" has been able to double the number of fund recipients every year, now reaching nearly 900 mothers and children in Karnataka and West Bengal.

This is the Shakti Kendra group and lace work is the prime occupation for all the members except one member.  Aloka Pramanik was quite a shy lady who was deeply concerned about her handicapped daughter. After she came into the group she realized she could take care of her daughter and also afford her an education  like the other children. With the help and knowledge from her group she gained confidance and now runs the business.  She is able to take care of her daughter's school and education and is the decision maker of her house. With help of Sister Aid and her own hard work her daughter was able to sit for the board exams this year.
